In water and wastewater treatment, disinfection is the most critical component of public health protection because of its role in prevention of waterborne illness. While most water professionals are familiar with the main cadre of commercially available disinfection technologies, we are increasingly faced with circumstances that test our ability to implement these tools effectively. In those circumstances, learning from each other’s work, research and experiences can be an effective tool for knowledge communication, exchange and translation to protect public health. This webcast will highlight various case studies outlining challenges and successes in treatment of water and wastewater during extreme weather conditions, plant maintenance and upgrades, wildfires and extreme cold environments.
